movo

movo is an app designed to make discovering, organizing, and sharing movies more natural and enjoyable.

It helps users manage their “Want to Watch,” “Watched,” and “Favorite” movies while offering personalized recommendations based on their preferences and viewing behavior.

Throughout the project, we conducted Card Sorting and Tree Testing to optimize the information architecture, followed by Heuristic Evaluation, UX Honeycomb Analysis, and Usability Testing to continuously refine the design.

This project aimed to balance user-centered information design and iterative evaluation and improvement.

Participants grouped elements such as Genre, Country, Director, Actor, Award, etc., to visualize how they naturally categorize film information.

Many participants grouped “Director” and “Actor” together, recognizing them as a connected part of the film’s creative structure.
However, ambiguous labels like “Future” or “Last Chance” caused confusion, and national categories (Korea, America, etc.) were often mixed with genres.

To redefine the app’s information structure, I created a site map based on insights from both the card sorting and tree testing sessions. From the card sorting, I discovered that users tend to group information intuitively — for example, treating directors and actors as part of the same “movie details” category, and preferring simple, relatable labels instead of technical ones. The tree testing further validated this by revealing that users were able to navigate faster and more accurately when related content was consolidated under clear, goal-oriented sections. Based on these findings, I reorganized the hierarchy into five main sections: Home, Explore, My List, My Page, and Movie Detail.

This consistency improved both usability and the overall visual coherence of the interface.

The tablet version was optimized for responsive design, ensuring usability across various screen sizes.

Additional search options were introduced, allowing users to explore movies by genre, title, or platform, in addition to the search bar.

The desktop layout follows the same structure as the tablet version but utilizes wider spacing and grid optimization to improve readability.

It allows users to browse multiple movie cards at once, enabling quick and intuitive navigation to their desired content.
